Detailed programme of summer classes
From 2nd July to 27th July 2018

Organisation of classes

Incoming student welcome:  Monday 2nd July 2018, from 9:00am to 12:00pm

Students are invited to attend a morning welcome reception, between 9:00am and 12:00pm.

The Head of Accommodation Services will escort those students who are staying in campus accommodation to Village 5, provided that they attend the morning welcome reception.

Placement test: Monday 2nd July 2018, at 1:30pm

Students will take a placement test and the results will be used to place them in a group, according to their level and ability in French.

The placement test comprises a listening comprehension, a grammar test, and a written composition.

The results of this test will be displayed in the reception hall of the DEFLE department at 8:45am on Tuesday 4th July. Teaching will then commence at 9am.

Information meeting:  Monday 2nd July 2018, from 3pm

Following the test, there will be an information meeting where we will explain the range of optional cultural excursions that students can sign up for.  You will then have the opportunity to visit the DEFLE department.

Teaching commences:  Tuesday 3rd July 2018, at 9am

Summer classes comprise 20 teaching hours per week.

For all groups, classes will start on Tuesday 3rd July 2018, at 9am.

At the start of teaching, students will receive their timetable from their teacher.  

Cultural activities: excursions and leisure activities

Students will have the opportunity to participate in several optional excursions throughout their course:

These excursions are fee-paying. Students must sign up in advance. There are a limited number of places available:

  • tour of Bordeaux
  • tour of Arcachon
  • visit to Dune of Pilat
  • tour of wine châteaux in the Medoc
  • tour of the medieval town of Saint Emilion
  • introduction to wine tasting.
